nuno cabral (b. 1964)

bsc in sociology — universidade nova de lisboa / fcsh (1986)

in parallel with his university studies, nuno began studying astrology, first with chiron, centro português de astrologia, and later with the faculty of astrological studies (london). he has been working professionally in the field (teaching and consultations) since 1993, both in oporto and lisbon, continuing to this day

he practiced aikido intensively in lisbon (1982–1984) and oporto (1987–1990)

his yoga practice began in 1994, in oporto, with cláudia villadelprat (student of christian pisano — iyengar yoga), and inês matos (student of claude maréchal — viniyoga, european branch of the desikachar/krishnamacharya school of madras)

he continued studying regularly with both until completing the viniyoga teacher training in barcelona (2000)

from 1998 to 2000, he trained with tomas zorzo and camino diez (oviedo, spain), teachers of the ashtanga vinyasa yoga tradition (pattabhi jois / mysore)

he also trained at the yoga center sananda (vigo/madrid), originally linked to the sivananda lineage, completing their teacher training in 1997, and at the centro de yoga asanga (madrid), with miguel fraile, where he concluded a two-year teacher training in yogatherapy (1997–1998)

between 2006 and 2009, he completed all three years of the iyengar basic teacher training with christian pisano and june whittaker (nice, france) — though by choice, he never pursued official certification or formal affiliation with the school

since 2003 — and more intensively between 2011 and 2019 — he has followed the work of éric baret, rooted in the tradition of kashmir shaivism

from this diverse set of influences — integrated with personal study, his own evolving practice, and teaching experience across a wide range of contexts — emerges a non-systematised approach to yoga that draws from many traditions, yet doesn’t define itself by any single one

alongside yoga, he has attended various massage training programs: therapeutic and rehabilitative massage and craniosacral therapy at simac (oporto), and two semesters of shiatsu at imp (lisbon)

between 1997 and 2001, he taught yoga in several gyms and schools in oporto — most notably at uatip (a university for lifelong learning), where he led weekly classes for senior groups over four consecutive years

since returning to lisbon in 2001, he has collaborated consistently with numerous gyms, cultural associations, institutions, and dance companies — taking part in courses and training programs for dancers and actors (alkantara, re_al, acccandermatt, fórum dança, fundação gulbenkian, sensurround, act, zdb, ccb, companhia olga roriz)

since 2004, he teaches regular classes in bairro alto (lisbon) and occasionally co-hosts yoga retreats and intensive workshops, often in collaboration with other teachers
